Theater Alum Has Break Out Moment; $327 Day Panhandling

On 1/24/2019 Des Moines police reported former Iowa State University theatre major, Daniel Ash has had a long and successful career begging on the streets of Des Moines. In a recent arrest, Daniel was found having made $327.23 in one day of untaxed revenue. In the report, officers claimed that Ash’s charming and on pitch song he made up while asking for money was likely the key to his street success. However, some skeptics say his success was most likely due to his location in Downtown, Des Moines. He is most known for working the intersection of 4th street and Court Avenue.  In his time at ISU, Daniel was an extra in Iowa State’s 87th production of Our Town, a non-speaking character in the 1996 production of Greece, and the lead of a ten-minute play that 8 people saw. In an exclusive interview with Mr. Ash, he thanked all of his fans who have stuck with him over the years. He will likely be making a triumphant return to Ames, working on a street corner near you soon.
